Big Society: Moving from Rhetoric to Reality

The overall aim of this seminar is to provide the opportunity for delegates to explore this agenda and look at how this will impact upon social issues in the West Midlands

Who should attend?

Policy officers & strategic officers from public and third sector organisations within the West Midlands.

OPEN project key aims

To raise and encourage debate at a local, national & EU level on how to tackle issues around social inclusion

• Encourage policy makers to take action & develop the social agenda

The programme will be delivered through keynote speeches discussing current issues and future approaches, with workshops looking at:

• Encouraging new and better partnership working

• Recognizing the contribution of, and skilling up of front line organisations

• An equalities perspective on Big Society

• Exploring routes to making a difference

There will also be an opportunity to network with other policy and strategic organisations from the West Midlands. This seminar is being led by West Midlands Councils with partnership support from RAWM, EHRC, Birmingham City University & the Nishkam Centre.
