EHRC has a statutory remit to promote and monitor human rights; and to protect, enforce and promote equality across the nine "protected" grounds - age, disability, gender, race, religion and belief, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership, sexual orientation and gender reassignment.
A team of staff and volunteers provide a range of services for the local community that are sensitive to the cultural backgrounds of the people involved
The initials SMWA stand for Southwark Muslim Women's Association but don't let that put you off if your'e male! Although SMWA was originally formed to provide a safe environment for Muslim Women, that was thirty years ago, and we've come a long way since then. Boys and men are very welcome to use the centre, although women are still our main focus.
