Modernising Volunteering – The Way to a Bigger Society (Newcastle upon Tyne)

26 Jan 2011 - 10:00am - 4:30pm

A one-day conference for everyone who wants to be at the forefront of volunteering developments in the North East and help pave the way to the ‘Big Society.’

This event is brought to you by the Modernising Volunteering National Support Services – a partnership that brings together Volunteering England, v, Red Foundation, NNVIA and Multi-faith Centre Derby.

Following the comprehensive spending review, many organisations are rethinking their strategies for the months and years ahead – and despite the challenges, there are opportunities. If you want to find out how to make your organisation stand out, this conference is for you.

The conference programme is informed by cutting-edge findings in four key areas: faith-based volunteering, new forms of volunteering and volunteer management, overcoming barriers to volunteering and skills-based employer supported volunteering.

The conference is suitable for everyone involved in volunteering and managing volunteers in organisations of all sizes and across all sectors.

At the conferences you will:

- Hear about how the Modernising Volunteering programme translates into local initiatives that benefit communities and organisations

- Gain key insights into the themes that cut across volunteering and Big Society thinking through presentations and open discussions

- Engage in practical workshops which will give you the knowledge and skills you need to modernise volunteering in your organisations, delivered by partners from the Modernising Volunteering National Support Service.
